Benefit for Youth Hope Foundation

Hope for the future starts with today. The Oasis Botanical Sanctuary is the spot. The BoogieMen , The Drum Thieves and Revolution Groove are bringing the jams. Bring your support as we raise money to help local teens who are living on the streets. These kids need help and Youth Hope provides many resources, starting with the basics of food and clothing.  There will be raffle prizes and silent auctions. All money (100%) raised will go directly to Youth Hope to help build confidence and promote self-sufficiency for homeless and runaway youth by providing trust, hope, support and education. No one is a lost cause! Come have a great time and give to a great local cause in the amazing environment that is the Oasis. Now is the time to make a difference!

Witness Our Revolution!

"You control our world. You’ve poisoned the air we breathe, contaminated the water we drink, and copyrighted the food we eat. We fight in your wars, die for your causes, and sacrifice our freedoms to protect you. You’ve liquidated our savings, destroyed our middle class, and used our tax dollars to bailout your unending greed. We are slaves to your corporations, zombies to your airwaves, servants..... to your decadence. You’ve stolen our elections, assassinated our leaders, and abolished our basic rights as human beings. You own our property, shipped away our jobs, and shredded our unions. You’ve profited off of disaster, destabilized our currencies, and raised our cost of living. You’ve monopolized our freedom, stripped away our education, and have almost extinguished our flame. We are hit… we are bleeding… but we ain’t got time to bleed. We will bring the giants to their knees and you will witness our revolution!" ~ Jesse Ventura

Hanging w/ Ralph Nader

We had the honor this evening, along with probably 500 others, to listen to Ralph Nader speak at the University of Redlands. And how cool it was!
Ralph wasted no time getting straight to the point of the top 1 percent getting 95% of the income in this country...the military budget of $700 billion dollars...an education system that doesn't create critical thinkers...and on and well you get the idea!
Ralph has always been an advocate for the people and been criticized unfairly for it. As a result of his advocacy for automobile safety, the  National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act passed in 1966.  He has ideas involving community, helping one another. Certain skills can be utilized to empower people. A lawyer can help a community petition their government. Elders can tutor teens. Teens can help their elders with yard work.
Visit the websites...nader.org and ...timebanks.org , read his work! A lot of it makes such great sense.
You can see the path we are headed, history repeats...and if we continue to let Goldman Sachs rule our country, its gonna make the great depression look like a picnic!
And on a funny note with a serious side...after Ralph and his sister Claire gave their presentations on the power of community (which has a lot of the same fundamentals as anarchism...but, shhhhhh don't tell anyone, the fear mongering, capitalist created chaos card is still in full force!) I was standing in line to get more info with three upper middle aged ladies and I said to them "you know you're all becoming anarchists now, right?"
The looks were priceless!

George Family Benefit Recap

The Drum Thieves rocked the Oasis Botanical Sanctuary again, as we helped raise over $600 for dear friends battling to overcome the devastation of a severe auto accident.  It may not sound like a lot but it accomplished the very mission we had come come together for.  Many thanks go out to our friends and family that were on hand to contribute and those that gave but couldn't make it to the show!  Special thanks to KingFish, the opening band rocked and got everyone in the groove. It was a hot summer night indeed as the Drum Thieves performance was easily their best so far. We have included video of their rendition of "Cold Turkey" by our hero John Lennon.  Here's to Feeding the Poor, Fighting the Power and Rockin' the Fuck Out! Until we GIVE again...peace!
